Not the Renaissance's cherubs, small children, harmless, cute.
Seems something got lost in translation...

No, Keruvim are 6' guardiands of the temple sanctuary.
More like angels/demons than children. Wielding
swords and fire, and killing unsuspecting tresspassers
who do not know the proper "greetings"/shiboleths...

They were supposed to protect the sanctuary where the Divine
female presence dwelt. They also protected the tablets Moses
got at Mt. Sinai.
